Freelance multimedia journalist January 2009 – present

Provided Twitter and video coverage of presidential inauguration for the Seattle Times. Shot and edited videos for launch of Kaiser Health News. Guided journalist in utilizing social media and maintaining blog and online radio show.

washingtonpost.com August 2008 – January 2009

Multimedia intern – Produced news videos from pitch to post. Collaborated with editors to create video centerpiece for relaunch of the dining guide. Produced audio slideshow that received over 250,000 views.

The Seattle Times May 2008 – August 2008

Multimedia journalist – Built relationships with reporters to identify opportunities for video coverage, including pitching, shooting and editing video for a story on problems in the short haul trucking industry.

KOMU-TV May 2007 – May 2008

Web Editor – Managed online reporters by editing and directing work on photography, slideshows, flash graphics and text.  Guided work from daily stories to long-form reporting projects.  Posted all reports online by editing broadcast scripts to AP style. Used content management system to update website, send emergency text messages and create daily email newsletters.

Freelance journalist, Columbia, MO May – December 2007

Wrote and voiced award-winning piece on state hunting trends for local NPR affiliate. Broke story on local problems with utilizing wind energy for city newspaper. Created multimedia packages for city newspaper’s website.

WAMU 88.5 FM May – October 2003

Reporting intern – Interviewed politicians and parents for pieces on Washington’s Congressional school voucher vote. Provided updates on power and water conditions during Hurricane Isabel.
